On May 6, 2018, Herculaneum’s archaeological park hosted the “Sundays at the Museum”, an event sponsored by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and organized in collaboration with Fonderia Nolana Del Giudice.

The event is intended to promote visits to cultural and archaeological sites with free admission.
The director of the museum agreed to archaeologist Amedeo Maiuri’s idea to open the archaeological park to the public, effectively making it an open-air museum.
On this occasion, the Herculaneum archaeological park gave visitors the opportunity to assist in the preparation of the “Bottega del Plumbarius” of the Decumanus Maximus.

The Bottega del Plumbarius is a workshop that has remained empty for many years, and it is for this reason that the same setup of Maiuri was restored.
The Fonderia Nolana Del Giudice reproduced identical copies of the original works in bronze, featuring the statue of Bacchus with the panther and a candle made of bronze with the base made of marble.
