ADEL ABDESEMMED
Adel Abdessemed was born in Constantine, Algeria, in 1971. After the tensions caused by the coup d’etat in 1992, Abdessemed abandons his country to move first to Paris and then to Berlin, New York, and Paris again. At the moment, he lives and works in London.
The French-Algerian artist uses all possible materials and expressive means – from video to photography, from drawing to painting, from performance to installations. With his works of art, he interprets transversally themes like integration, racism, sexuality, and the overcoming of taboos imposed by religions.
Adel Abdessemed chose Fonderia Nolana to realise his metal sculptures.
