Piero Golia

Piero Golia was born in 1974 in Naples. His works have been on display in important exhibitions in the United States and in Europe, in venues like: Museum of Castel Sant’Elmo, Naples (2000); National Gallery, Albania (2001); Fondazione Olivetti, Rome (2002); Foundation Nicola Trussardi, Milan (2004); Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Oslo (2005); Serpentine Gallery, London (2006); Post scriptum 1 Contemporary Art Center, New York (2006); Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2007); Swiss Institute, Venice (2009); Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (2010); Museo MAXXI, Rome (2010); Fondation d’Entreprise Ricard, Paris (2012); and Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2014). His recent individual exhibitions include  “La Folie de la Villa Médicis”, “Académie de France à Rome, Villa Medici, Rome (2002); “Loser”, Statements Art Basel, Miami Beach Art Fair, Miami (2003); “Double Tumble or the Awesome Twins”, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2011); “Chalet Hollywood”, Los Angeles (2013-14); “Chalet Dallas,” Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas (2015-16); Académie de France à Rome, Villa Medici, Rome (2016); and Kunsthaus Baselland, Switzerland (2017).

From the beginning of his career, Piero Golia has revolutionised contemporary art conventions with an audacious use of concept, shape, and action.

The artist has collaborated with Fonderia Nolana for the realisation of the bronze replica of the miniature of his “Studio Ideale”, work presented at the exhibition La Invitational at Gagosian Gallery in New York.
