Latifa Echakhch
Latifa Echakhch was born in Morocco in 1974 and raised in France.
She is a visual artist and started her career in 2002 in Switzerland, where she still lives. Her art is focused on installations and setting of spaces, dealing with three-dimensional works whose purpose is transforming the perception of space.
Latifa Echakhch deals with socio-political and cultural themes of contemporaneity by means of different artistic techniques: particularly, the artist plays with spaces and objects, each one with its symbolic meaning, using the evocative power of decontextualization. Her installations and settings encourage the spectator to an active and engaged fruition, establishing a direct relationship with the work itself.
Fonderia Nolana has collaborated with Latifa Echakhch for the project “Spring and Fall” at the Galerie Kamel Mennour in London. Moreover, Latifa Echakhch participated in September 2016 to the Frieze Art Fair of London with the installation “Kamel Mennour”. On this occasion, Fonderia Nolana has taken part to the realisation of the installation, from the research for large-sized historical bells to the actual performance on site.
